They’ve been called the silent majority.
But one group of 18 to 24 years olds wants to make their voices heard.
More than 80 people showed up at the Sails in downtown Kelowna Thursday afternoon for a vote mob.
A vote mob is a flash mob spectacle to encourage the youth vote in the upcoming federal election.
Many people in the crowd carried signs saying “Voting is Power” and “Surprise! I’m voting” to break down the belief young people aren’t interested in politics.
Decked out in Canadian attire and tattoos and with many carrying the Canadian flag, the crowd wanted people to know they care about this country’s future and they’re going to show it come May 2.
An impromptu singing of Oh Canada got the energy pumping before the group danced a sequence of choreography as cameras rolled on their moves; the completed video will be uploaded onto YouTube this weekend.
Afterward, the group held up letters to create a large sign reading “I’m voting Canada”, which later flipped over to “A new day”.
